For Sale: Ireland Engineering stainless steel exhaust for 2002-2004 R53 Cooper S. Single sided-design is considerably lighter than stock. Throaty sound, but does not drone. Switched back to stock so I can sell the car. (IE will sell you a single oval tip if you want.) The good: Easy to install. Just supply a new gasket, two bolts, and reuse your rubber hangers. The bad: You may need to bend the rear brackets for it to fit correctly. (If you bend the inside arm so it's perpendicular instead of parallel to the outside one, it will fit 2005-2006 R53.) The ugly: The front muffler is shot. I cut a hole in it to see what was rattling around and the insides are cooked and loose. You could either swap in a new muffler, resonator, or just a straight pipe. Located in Mount Airy, MD, $100/OBO if picked up. Paypal preferred. I can box and ship it FEDEX ground, but it won't be cheap... PM if interested.
Still available. I looked into shipping and it's really expensive. Quotes came in $150-$175. It's not worth it. I can't edit the original posting any longer, but wanted to make it clear that the first muffler is shot: The insides are loose and there is a hole about the size of a quarter that has been cut into it to see how bad it was. If you buy this exhaust, you'll have to have a new muffler/resonator installed or replace the first muffler with a straight pipe. If you add it up: $100 for the exhaust, $150 to ship, and $150 for a new muffler, you might as well buy a new one for the same amount.
i wanna make a custom exhaust setup and this piping and muffler would be perfect to start with...aahh if you only lived closer....the 7 hour drive might cost more then the exhaust :frown5:
For anyone who maybe looking at this. The first muffler/resonator is actually only a resonator. A guy over on m|u got his cut out and strait piped it. He said it only made it slightly louder and deeper. I plan on doing this with my IE exhaust as well. GLWS
Resonator not needed thats correct, exhaust will sound more aggresive and thats fine with most Mini fanatics. The shipping cost would probably be in the range of $50 if you went with USPS. Fedex and UPS are outrageous. I can ship a OEM header/cat almost anywhere in the lower 48 for $25-30 with USPS.
ahhh i want this so bad now hearing that...lemme know if you change your mind about shipping it for less. ill be all over this. i live in erie pa and its about 6-7 hours maybe away? shipping shouldnt be horrible. lemme know!!!
OK If this is for sale and NO one else wants it I will drive up and pick it up. this week, I live just south of Richmond VA
