I own a 2010 JCW Hardtop. I know of a 2012 Coupe with a blown motor that is being parted out. It has a set of KW V1 coilovers installed that I can get for a good price.

KW lists separate part numbers for the R56 and R58/59. I know that the KW V1s are only height adjustable and are valved to the specific model Mini. How do you think an R56 would ride with set of V1s designed for an R58/59? If I remember correctly, the coupe/roadsters weigh more than the hardtops.

Let's not get into a discussion on X coilovers being better than KW.

    Thanks

Welcome to MA! You are correct the R58 is heavier I have one it weighs 2779lb it’s a JCW. I am not sure how much a R56 weighs. I would think it will be stiffer on the R56 vs the R58. I am not sure how this would effect the rebound valving. Sorry I am not much help

IF the weight of the R56 is not very different from the R58 I'd say go for it. KW V1 coil overs are supposed to very good.

    Welcome to M/A

Looking at a R56 owners manual it looks like the R56 is only 78lb lighter. I dont think that would make a difference.

That's what I was thinking... the ride would be a bit stiffer. That's fine though, better a stiffer ride than bouncy.

I did buy the V1's. I have not installed them yet as I'm waiting for the set of 5mm spacers I ordered. I'll report back after installation on how they ride.

    Thanks all for the welcomes.
