That's a nice setup. This is no knock on the design: has it been "off-road excursion" tested yet at the track?
i suggest sending one to Nathan for proper "off-road, agricultural" testing! j/k nathan.....although you have tested other versions....
What would be nice would be a splitter that is easily removed, so you could put it on for the track, and take it off when you're done at the end of the day. May be too much to ask for though; the brackets would have to be fairly unobtrusive so it wouldn't look too goofy when it was off.
very nice, i like how its blocking the tires from the wind... time to go wider also some conards would finish the look imo :cornut:
The Front Splitter can be easily removed for in town driving. all that remains are 1/4 inch of stud still out of the front bumper, and yes Nathan it will fit the JCW bumper as it mounts to the support so the design is not limited by the front bumper. Also removing the splitter does not ruin your settings for when you reattach. Chris just informed me that VIR has hired us to mow the grass out of 17, LOL, so we will have some offroad data for you guys soon!!!
I have done the mowing thing before. Exiting Wagon Wheel I went a little wide and went off heading pretty much at the flag station. The grass was rather tall and I cut MINI wide swath pretty close to the ground level. The people at that station came to me later and thanked me for creating a clear path for them. Please note this is not the Sneed Splitter pictured above.
Splitter underpinning shot Hey everyone, Thanks for all of the interest and the laughs at nathans expense, but here is a picture of beneath that will give you a better idea of what would be left if the splitter was removed and the 1/4 inch worth of the studs remaining. Hopefully this will give you a better idea of what it would be like. Thanks Preston
Nate, when you mow the grass like that, do you get paid? I went into a highspeed spin on the inside of a hairpin last year, and pretty much mowed down all the grass on that area of the infield. I saved someone a whole bunch of work. Not only did they not pay me for my efforts, I didn't even get so much as a simple "thank you".....
The other splitters that came for different bumper cover types really only varied in the front profile of the unit. They mimicked the profile where the aero bumper cover has a relieved area in the center. Those types are for show, this one by Sneed is for go and doesn't have the same bling needs the others have. Without going on a limb here I'm also going to speculate the Sneed model will require some mods to the underside of the bumper cover requiring the vertical lip to be shaved off.
