MINI is a car brand that means a lot of different things to a great many people. For some, it’s about economy. For others, it’s style. For many, MINI is about performance. Thing is, they’re all right. MINI is a brand and a range of cars intended to live in a variety of sweet spots [...] (visit MotoringFile for the full article) More...
I guess I should move my little review here... Anyway, as I stated, the Paceman looks better in person. It's smaller than the Countryman as described... Still a far cry from the Gen 1 MINI in size. There is a ton of "trunk" space. Door toggles were moved to the door. And the mood lighting that was introduced with the Gen 2 rotates through colors and stops on the one you select each time you open the door. The interior is very similar to the Countryman. I did like the feel of the seats... they seem more snug than the Cooper ones. I don't know if the Countryman has this or not, but the speedo goes around the circumference of the center screen leaving a massive screen for navigation, radio controls, etc. oh, there is now that BMW little "stick" that is used for radio/navigate control in the center console. Not sure how I feel about that. I don't have experience using this form of controls. Overall, not a bad- looking MINI... I can see it being popular for those that wish to up-size from the hatch but find the Countryman too big. Also found it they will be starting in a limited production for the first year.
I'm waiting to see who will be the first person to take the Paceman All 4 and lower it and see how it handles with the all wheel drive compared to a current MINI Cooper.. Atleast that is what I'd do with it!! I know it is heavier, and bulkier, but how good is the All 4 part of it..
There wasn't much room for dropping it with those 19" rims they slapped on it :frown2: But yeah, wouldn't mind seeing how it drives. First demo one arrives at the local dealer March 17th I think.
JCW Paceman will be a little lower than the ALL4 S Paceman, it will still handle the 19 inch optional wheels. I am liking the 18s with the machined face a bit more, but the 19s are special. Don
