Ever since joining up with this bunch of miscreants (and loving every moment) I've wondered how you have come up with the online handles that you use. I'm still snickering over Pug Snot and Puppynuckles which I saw recently on NAM So I'll start it off TGS91 Fairly straightforward. TGS is my initials and 91 is for 1991 the year I finally hung up my partying shoes and stopped the insanity with drugs and alcohol. So your mission, if you care to, is to share the story behind your handle
Thanks, sure as I'm sittin' at this monitor I would not be motoring today if I didn't stop. Thanks to AA and NA
Not much for me to say here...it's my name. BUT... Since I used to always go with gnatster and many of you still use that when PN'ing there is a bit of a back story there. Way back before Al Gore invented the interwebs and this crazy connected Mainframe thing between big university's was called ARPANET, even before it became NSFNET the little tiny prep school I went to in central PA had connection privileges with Penn State. Ahh the days of playing flight simulator with punch tape... Well anyway I was given the nickname at school of Gnat since I was a heck of lot more obnoxious then and also so small in physical stature just like I am now (cough..cough) There was already someone on ARPANET with the account name of Gnat so with the aid of some mind expanding substances that were so prevalent in a prep school back in those days we came up with gnatster...the rest is history.
Couple more tokes and you might of came up with Napster................Now that mighta altered your history!
I am a cardiovascular perfusionist by trade - a guy who runs the heart-lung machine in cardiac surgery procedures. I'm actually not a big fan of my handle anymore - would rather keep work and home separate - and as such, I've started to use a different one elsewhere. BUT, since I registered w/ Perfusion on NAM way back when AND since my dad is a member there (Commander Dan) who referred me here, I thought it made the most sense to register with the same name here so as to be identifiable. ut:
Mine is pretty easy - it's the beginning of my last name. I used to be called Edge back in school as a result (ironically, my younger sister did too, later on). It doesn't hurt that it speaks to other things as well - cutting edge, bleeding edge, on the edge, going over the edge...
Snooter was a nickname that we (my highschool buds and I) used for each other. It kinda had two meanings. 1. Someone who rolled with the flowed and didn't get hung up on the little things in life. 2. You could go out and get snooted So as I got older and took on more responsibilities, I started to use the name to remind me of where I came from and what is really important.
way back when at the start of forum days, I registered as patagonianwrx - my gf (now wife) had a yellow Suby wagon and I had just gotten back from a month in Patagonia, Argentina. I lost my job a month after 9/11 and said F IT and jumped on a plane to fulfill a life-long dream - to visit the wild open spaces at the south of the southernmost continent. That changed to PatagonianGT when I bought another Subaru, a Legacy GT...I became a moderator on that site and everybody called me 'PGT' for short.
"Putterfarm" speaks for itself, we putter around on the farm. Don't forget, I live out in the country in n.w. Pa. not real near cities where there are other MINIs. Nathan, I still want stickers!!!
Mine came about 12 years ago when dial up & AOL was the way to get on online. After hours of trying to get a username that wasn't taken, ZZ Top was on the radio. So I flipped it to TT Zop, and bam I was online. Used it ever since!
When I joined "that other site" I used Lot15, where I used to live in the hinterlands of the great white north, on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, 11th largest lake in the world. Well folks started calling me lotsie all the time, so I changed it to lotsie, but you can call me Mark:smilewinkgrin: Mark
Deviant was a radio call sign I had in Afghanistan and since it was around that time I started getting concerned with people being able to find out things about me online by searching for screen-names I kept it. Go ahead, do a search on it, be sure to turn all the content filters off.
