I was justing wondering what was everyone's best MINI related memory of 2012 Mine was going to MINI UNITED 2012 in France in a convoy of 5 MINIs from the UK :smile5:
Getting my own at the beginning of December or finally getting the girls r50 back in the road with a 6 speed swap after being down for almost a year due to a bad cvt
This is an easy answer for me because its the same memory every year. Rolling into Fontana early Monday morning for a week of crazy MOTD FUN with all my MINI friends from all over the U.S.A. Unless you have spent a week at the Dragon you have no idea what you are missing. The Dragon is just not about the road, which is AWESOME, but it's about all the old friends you meet every year and all the new ones you make. Almost every vendor is there and you can drive all day and party every night.
The tons of good times, laugh, food, and drink while sharing a ski chalet at Winter Park Resort during MITM '12. Four days with a half-dozen dear MINI friends from our local club...and not forgetting all of the awesome alpine motoring together and with old friends from prior events. Priceless memories. The day I picked up my new Roadster is up there too.
I was going to say that MOTD 10 was my favorite memory, but I have to say my favorite memory is getting my beloved R53 after 5 years of wanting one
Wow, so many. It was another busy year. - Flew to Virginia to buy a GP and drove it back home within the same day - Attended MTTS - Flew to Colorado and was handed the keys to a new JCW Coupe to drive all weekend at MITM (big thanks to Schompp) - Track day at NJMP - Laps on a NASCAR race track - Coordinating a 6 GP get together at MINI of Allentown And more...
Camping at MOTD with my younger son! We've gone the past 4 years. This year he has license and will drive the dragon!
:cornut: When the young lean Texas DPS Trooper( at 1am with 90lbs of Raleigh Dog in the passenger seat staring him in the eye) said," Now this is just a warning sir and not a ticket. Could I get you to hold it down please?" "Yes sir you sure can and I sure will(and I did).":lol::lol: Jason
Making it to Fontana without Rick's eye blowing up! He had a gas bubble in his eye due to a detached retina surgery the Friday before we drove out. But really... being at MOTD is always the MINI highlight of the year.
....I'm convinced the guy that owns the Shelby has never related that story to his Buddies...heh, heh, heh.
Really...the whole process of ordering my MINI: tracking the build, checking the status just after I got up each morning, watching ship movements, docking in Baltimore, then stalking it in STL across the dealer's three locations. Very memorable!
Adopting my 07 Cooper S and the huge smile on my face every day I open my garage and take her out for a cruise the peeps of M/A are pretty amazing also . . . I'm addicted and digging the ride
If he did the MINI was replaced with: "some black car that he didn't get a good look at, that had to have at least 1,000 HP and nitrous... "
Mine was most assuredly MOTD 10, after my son got married him and his new bride moved to Connecticut way too far to get a chance to see him. Shortly after moving he saw the light and traded his Scion for a Clubman, things worked out where he was able to get off work so he joined us at MOTD. This was the first time the wife and I had been able to see them in 1 1/2 years, and being able to see him enjoying his new MINI the way they should be was outstanding. Just a footnote, his wife now has a MINI as well.. Oh and I forgot to mention, they now live in Louisville which is halfway between my house and the Dragon. :cornut:
Flying to Phoenix, buying and driving GP0808 home to Texas, getting to keep my 2009 FJCW and going to MOTD for the first time.....
The annual "Rumble at the Strip" a 2 day autox event on an old WW2 runway, followed by a lapping day at Shannonville msp. It's a fun 3 day getaway that several clubs make the trip for. Damn I miss my MINI.
