looking good as usual! I love how you treat the photos for that...uh... oilslick effect. That doesnt sound like the compliment Im trying to give it. It's like super saturation. I love it!
Awesome Clubman & thanks for the before & after. Just got a 2011 Clubman S & am looking at wheels & tires. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the differences between 225/45 & 215/40. Is 225/45 wider & taller or vise versa, or neither? Both looked great on yours. Help with this remedial question will help me sleep better & finally allow me to get proper shoes for my ride. Thanks!!!
I'm assuming this question is pointed at me since I had both of those tires. 225 is wider than 215s. The 40 or 45 refers to height (profile). So a 40 tire has a lower height or profile than a 45. More height means better ride quality, but typically lower performance since taller means it flexes more than a harsher riding but stiffer sidewall. Think runflats which are super stiff and harsh. I wouldn't go back to 225's on the MINI unless at stock ride height. I like the look and comfort of the 215/40's. I've had 35's as well, and they look cool but you give up too much on ride quality, tread life, and the potential to dent rims is much greater. The 40's are the best compromise IMO. Also note that if you run 195's or 205's that the profile of the tire, seen from the back, the corners probably looked rounded or stretched on a 7" rim. The 215's and even 225's have a much better looking squarer profile, where from a looks perspective, looks aggressive. Now you should be able to sleep better, lol. Richard
Thanks Richard!!! Exactly the explanation I was looking for. I will sleep getter now. FYI...I've written a thousand songs, but can't figure out how Tivo works either - strange brain mine is.
So It Goes... Here's my 2009 Clubman JCW - picked it up about a month ago. Haven't done much with it - except drive! Currently has Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus - will go with Dunlop runflats when it warms up in the spring.
OK here are a few pics of my 2011 Clubman S 'Longboy' now that I've had it a month... Vinyl, more of which can be seen here: http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/exterior/5327-longboy-gets-vinyled.html Here's a few others... Parked downtown SF in a below-grade garage, tucked into one of those weird spaces only small cars can get into. It was short. The front end... ...and an earlier side view, pre-vinyl and post-Blackjack scuttle...
Can someone with the 2011 show me what the seatbelt clip looks like on the suicide door? I saw in an early release photo of the 2011 changes there was a clip to hold the seatbelt in place when passengers exit the 3rd door and wondered what that looks like. Thanks! Richard
Great!!! I was wondering if the attachment point has anything to do with the cupholder and whether this looked like a potential retrofit to earlier models. Thanks a lot. Richard
I wasn't sure exactly what you were wanting when I took the pics so here is what I got. If these aren't what you need, let me know and I'll get more when she gets home later today.
Thanks for taking these pix! But I'm confused. *EDIT after Google Search* Ooops it appears what I'm looking for is a slot on the door. "A new slot in the Clubdoor can hold the passenger front seatbelt buckle in place for easier ingress and egress for the rear passengers, and there is also a new roller-style rear cargo shade." http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2010/07/21/488220.html ************* I remember seeing in an early release photo or video of the improvements in the 2011 models and one of them was a place to clip this seatbelt onto the door or door jamb so that passengers exiting wouldn't trip over the seatbelt when the door was open and the belt extended. I could have sworn the clip was just below the cup holder or near it. But I don't see that here. :confused5: Richard
Here are a couple of just the clip. It's a slot on the lower portion of the cupholder. Sorry it's blurry. :rolleyes5:
Thanks! That's perfect! So it just fits in by friction or is there a catch or anything that the clip hooks onto? I had thought this was a clip that catches onto the belt itself. Never thought it just held the metal clasp portion. Very simple.
As far as I can tell, it's held in place by friction. The first time I tried it out it worked great, but since then it's kind of hit and miss on holding it for any length of time.
That's what I suspected. Thanks so much! Atleast I've got a starting point now. To the drawing board for a retrofit for 2007-2010 Clubbie owners. :cornut: Oh wait, were their Clubbies in 2007? lol. I'm so ignorant. Richard
