Most of the older Gen1 folks have moved on, either under the sod now or moved on to other makes. I was thinking about selling my Tritec Turbo build and had it listed for a while. I did a tune tweak where I reduced boost from 23 down to 19.5 but jumped timing up to 23.5. At 23 psi I had a friend drive it that also tracks and said he never drove a R53 with so much torque. I have an entry level turbo but it a 6-puck was slipping so went to a OS Giken twin plate.

What started out as a Yellow R50 is now quite the sleeper and even though I am approaching 70 trips around the sun I am going to tough it out for at least another year. So much stuff out there now for turbo builds at budget prices. Europe is still far ahead of the US with turbos and I am working with some guys on log manifolds that will get you 270 at the wheels with a stock engine, ECU, head, cam, and 550 injectors. Parts with no labor including the tune, AFR gauge, logging app and upgraded clutch is less than $3000.

    Keep yours.

I have 3 MINIS..a rare R50 CVT [very slightly modded], an R53 MCSa [not modded at all...wife's car], and my daily driver, an R53a modded. The first two have over 105,000 miles each, while my daily driver [onetime track car and Dragon Slayer] has over 179,000 miles on it and I plan to take it over 200,000 miles before I die.

I don't mind being old so much [78]...just wish I could walk better and my recent surgery has not helped a helluva lot, either. I've recovered, and my doctor gave me permission to drive again, so I do it because my life isn't worth living without being able to drive a my MINIs. Unfortunately, my wife is 80 now but cancer free and doesn't want to drive her R53a anymore, so I'm selling it to a friend.
